Senior Data Scientist / ML Engineer, Energy & Industry

Advian is looking for a Senior Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer in a key, hands-on role. You’ll develop AI and ML solutions for customer projects and Advian’s product releases, contributing significantly to technical decisions and solution design.

THE ROLE

In this role, you contribute hands-on to machine learning solutions, collaborating with domain experts and internal teams, and influencing the design of production-ready AI systems 

Your work typically includes: 

• Developing and deploying ML models for both customer projects and product releases 

• Evaluating and improving algorithms for performance, reliability, and explainability 

• Engineering features for text, tabular, and time series data 

• Applying modern AI methods, including generative AI, to solve real-world problems 

• Optimizing ML systems in cloud environments (Azure/AWS) and ensuring maintainability via MLOps 

• Contributing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

We would fit each other perfectly if you have: 

• Professional communication skills in English and Finnish 

• 4+ years of experience in machine learning or data science in a customer-facing role 

• Applied knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, LLMs/generative AI, and statistics  

• Experience in feature engineering for text, tabular, and time series data 

• Experience with production ML systems, including performance optimization 

• Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS ML ecosystems and basic Docker usage 

• Good understanding of MLOps practices 

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently 

It is considered a plus if you have: 

• Experience in energy systems, electricity networks or industrial environments

• Background in computer vision or signal processing 

• Ability to coach or mentor team members
